Vision Statement of the Social
Concerns Committee:
- To nurture a church family of loving and caring
people who support each other and who extend their
talents to share with those in need
- To act with justice, to love tenderly and to walk
humbly with God (Micah 6:8)
- To empower those served and those serving
- To foster a parish community where Catholic social
teaching is the work of every believer (Communities
of Salt and Light, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops,
1993)
Social Concerns
at Resurrection Church
The Church of the Resurrection has always been committed
to charity and justice since the formation of the
parish and its first Eucharistic liturgy on December
7, 1941. Through the action of individuals and parish
organizations as well as by participating in national
and diocesan programs and appeals, the people of Resurrection
have sought to assist and advocate on behalf of those
in need both in the parish, its communities, the local
area, the nation and the world. The Social Concerns
Committee was formally organized in 1994 as an outcome
of a parish self-study the previous year. The committee
meets monthly on the third Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
in the Church. (see the Parish
Calendar) Robert Bianchi is the committee's chairperson.
