RELIGIOUS EDUCATION JOY!
We truly value our small class sizes, especially in our 1st grade class, where students build strong friendships and enjoy learning together. During today’s lesson, God Our Father Shows His Love, our students created hearts as a hands-on way to reflect on God’s love. The joy and enthusiasm in the classroom make it a place where anyone who visits wants to stay and participate!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
On February 8th, one student celebrated a special birthday and brought in donuts to share, while enjoying a fun and engaging lesson.
Our catechists brought learning to life by incorporating a Super Bowl–themed activity into the day, making for a memorable and exciting Sunday morning. We wish our birthday friend a very Happy Birthday!
If your child has a birthday and they would like to celebrate during Religious Education, please let us know, we would love to celebrate your child too!
KINDERGARTEN BLESSINGS IN RELIGIOUS ED
On Sunday, February 8th, our kindergarten class was delighted to welcome Fr. Sean, who began their morning with prayer. Fr. Sean was even tempted to stay a bit longer, as it was “tasting day” in class. Fr. Sean, next time we will make you a to go bag!
As part of their lesson on God and the five senses, the students enjoyed sampling a variety of treats brought in by their catechists. Adding to the fun, our First Holy Communion class stopped by to join the experience. We missed our friends who were out today.
It was a joyful and faith-filled Sunday.
This Week’s Catechist: Mr. Bill
This week, we are excited to spotlight Mr. Bill! Mr. Bill has been part of our Religious Education program for the past two years, and we are incredibly grateful for the knowledge, dedication, and heart he brings to our students.
With his teaching background, Mr. Bill has been a tremendous blessing to our program. This year, he generously stepped up to teach our 6th and 7th grade class, offering his time, patience, and love for the Lord to help guide our students in their faith journey.
Mr. Bill’s commitment to our students and to Religious Ed does not go unnoticed. We are so thankful for his willingness to serve and for the positive impact he continues to make in our program.

SNOW DAY
Our students came back from our snow day. We are so happy to see a full class! We hope to see everyone next week.
WOLF RUN NURSING HOME
On December 14th, Confirmation students from Resurrection and Our Lady of Lourdes visited Wolf Run Nursing Home. Although a few students were unable to attend due to illness, those who were present brought great joy to the residents. Our catechist, Ms. Anna, organized a wonderful Christmas sing-along that was truly enjoyed by everyone at Wolf Run. The uplifting music helped spread the spirit of Christmas, and we are very grateful to Ms. Anna, Tom Weitzel, and our students for sharing their time and talents to make this visit so special.
HOT COCOA BAR AND GINGERBREAD HOUSES
The Religious Education program enjoyed a delightful event on December 14th. Students created gingerbread houses and shared a warm cup of hot cocoa. While the houses may not have been overflowing with candy, the children certainly enjoyed plenty of sweet treats. We are grateful for the many blessings God continues to share with our Religious Education community.

KINDERGARTEN'S GUIDING LIGHT: MR. MIKE!
A true blessing to our parish, Mr. Mike has been shaping young hearts for over 20 years. We are incredibly grateful to have him as part of our catechist team here at the Church of the Resurrection.
Mr. Mikw brings enthusiasm, joy and unforgettable storytelling to our kindergarten class each week. His ability to make Scripture come alive – and to make learning fun – has touched countless children over the years.
We thank Mr. Mike for his dedication to Religious Education and for all he continues to do for our parish family. We are blessed by his ministry!
RELIGIOUS ED UPDATE
On November 23, our students spent the morning working on The Giving Tree. Our Confirmation class crafted beautiful ornaments while kindergarten students proudly placed them on the tree.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to support the Women’s Organization with this meaningful project. It is truly a blessing to guide our children in learning the joy and importance of giving to others.
FAITH IN ACTION: THIS WEEK'S CATECHIST GOD HANDPICKED DR PAM FOR US!
What would we do without Dr. Pam? Now in her second year as a Catechist, she has been an absolute gem to our Religious Ed program. From her delicious treats to the way she brings each lesson to life, Dr. Pam truly shines with the joy of teaching and faith. We are so grateful that God brought her to our parish family.

C0RNUCOPIA SUNDAY WAS A JOY!
This past Sunday, our students had an absolutely wonderful time at our Cornucopia event! The room was filled with laughter, conversation, and the happy sounds of everyone enjoying themselves.
We talked about the importance of being thankful for what we have, and it was truly moving to hear all the students pray the Lord’s Prayer together. Each child also wrote what they were thankful for on their little turkeys - a simple but beautiful reminder of how blessed we are.

SWEET SURPRISES IN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
There’s never a dull week in Religious Education! Last week, our students and catechists pulled off a surprise party for Fr. Sean complete with cupcakes and smiles all around. This week, our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders kept the fun going by making caramel apples and apple nachos!
We had all sorts of toppings—sprinkles, M&Ms, marshmallows, chocolate chips, melted caramel, and chocolate. The students did a great job being mindful of their choices while enjoying a sweet treat and learning their faith lessons.
At Resurrection, we love showing that faith and fun can go hand in hand—and every Sunday brings something to look forward to! Come back next week and see what fun these students get into next.

Our Religious Ed community is deeply grateful for Ms. Elaine, lovingly known by our children as Ms. Mac. WELCOME MR. DOMINIC
This week, we celebrate Mr. Dominic, our amazing catehist for grades 3-5. Although he just joined our team this year, he has quicklu become a wondeful addition to our Religious Education family. His creative teaching style and joyful spirit truly capture the children's attention and make learning about our faith both meaningful and fun.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION SAFETY UPDATE
Although our scheduled Safe Environment training had to be postponed due to internet issues, our studemts still had a valuable learning experience. During Religious Ed, they participated in a fire drill and learned the proper procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. The children practiced safely exiting the church and identified our desigated safe location should we ever need to leave the premises.
We are grateful for the opportunity to reinforce safety with our students!

On Mother’s Day, we wrapped up our Religious Ed year with a special event honoring the amazing mothers in our program. It was a joyful gathering filled with delicious pastries, fun games, and wonderful company. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a memorable occasion. What a beautiful way to close out the year.
FIRST HOLY COMMUION
Many blessings to our parish children who celebrated First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 4th: Briggs Bartos, Garrett Brown, Morgan Kemock, & Thomas Roslevich. Our students also received rose bushes as tokens of this moment. Thank you to everyone who made this a special occasion.
SEVENTH GRADE CLASS
On March 23rd, while our Confirmation students gathered with their sponsors, our 7th grade students moved to the Sanctuary for class. It was a full house, and we were so grateful for the dedication of these students as they prepare for Confirmation next year.

On March 23rd, our Confirmation students and their sponsors gathered for a special Breakfast of Blessings. If you noticed the delightful aroma of bacon during Mass, it was thanks to the incredible spread awaiting our guests! The morning featured a delicious meal, including bacon, waffles, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit with a chocolate fondue fountain, and a variety of juices and hot beverages.
The breakfast began with fun icebreaker questions and concluded with a Would You Rather game. Before leaving, each student shared with their sponsor the reason they had chosen them ~ a meaningful moment of appreciation.
A huge thank you to our Knights of Columbus for making this event possible! Their hard work in preparing and serving the meal, and even the cleanup, did not go unnoticed. We are deeply grateful for their generosity and support. Thank you gentlemen!

STATIONS OF THE CROSS
On March 16th, our 3rd-8th graders participated in the Stations of the Cross with a wonderful surprise ~ our 1st-grade class joined them as well. The children did a fantastic job, and Fr. Sean was very impressed with their reverence and participation. A heartfelt thank you to Fr. Sean for taking time out of his busy Sunday morning to lead the Stations of the Cross for our Religious Ed students.

Surprise Donut Treat
Every year, our Religious Ed students have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during the Lenten season. On March 9th, they were also treated to a generous donut donation which made for a delightful paring with their confessions.
In a beautiful testament to their faith, some students shared that they had chosen to give up treats, like donuts, for Lent this year. It is truly inspiring to witness their commitment to the spirit of sacrifice and reflection during this sacred season. We extend our sincere gratitude to Fr. Sean for taking the time to hear each student’s confession and support them on their faith journey.

This week, we shine the spotlight on our amazing Confirmation Catechists, Ms. Anna and Ms. Mary. Together, they are guiding our students on their faith journey with dedication and enthusiasm.
Ms. Anna brings creativity and energy to the classroom setting up a warm and welcoming environment with candles, student books, and snacks. She has a gift for engaging students with interactive games and thoughtful activities that make learning fun. Ms. Mary enriches the class with meaningful stories and reflections sparking great discussions among students. Her presence adds depth to their learning experience helping them connect their faith to real-life moments.

Mr. Mike shares the Word of God with unmatched energy engaging young learners with his passion for teaching. His warmth and welcoming presence, along with the homemade baked goods he generously shares, makes every class a joy for the children.
Ms. Elaine ensures each lesson is hands-on and memorable preparing creative art projects, coloring sheets, and thoughtful take-home activities. Her commitment goes beyond the classroom as she brings in her own supplies and treats ensuring every child has an enriching experience.
We are blessed to have Mr. Mike & Ms. Elaine as part of our parish family. Their dedication over the years has touched countless young hearts, and we look forward to many more years of their incredible service. Thank you both for your unwavering commitment to sharing God’s love with our children!
Our Religious Ed students had a fantastic time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on March 2nd as the children enjoyed engaging in coin games. We extend a big congratulations to our Confirmation students and 1st graders for winning Dunkin’ Donuts for their class.
Also, we took time to learn about St. Patrick’s remarkable story including the surprising fact that he was born in Britain ~ not Ireland.
A special thank you to Dr. Pam for her generous donation of delicious sugar cookies. Your kindness added an extra touch of sweetness to our celebration.

TOWER OF BABEL
Our 5th and 6th grade Religious Ed students explored the story of the Tower of Babel. To bring the lesson to life, they worked together to build their own towers making the learning experience both interactive and meaningful. It was a wonderful way to engage with Scripture in a hands-on way.

CONFIRMATION RETREAT
Our 9 Confirmation students attended their retreat on February 22nd at St. Ann’s Church joining candidates from St. Ann’s Parish and Our Lady of Lourdes. It was a meaningful day filled with spiritual growth, reflection, and fellowship. The students participated in engaging activities centered on the Fruits of the Spirits, Acts of Service, and more.
We were blessed to receive a generous donation of a delicious KFC meal for lunch.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Sean for joining us to hear confessions. His presence was a true blessing to our students. St. Ann’s warmly welcomed us for Mass where nearly all of our students took an active role by serving, reading, or presenting the gifts.

Confirmation Students
Our Confirmation students are always engaged and full of energy! Ms. Gabby recently met with the group to discuss their participation in Mass during the upcoming Confirmation Retreat this month.
This year, we are introducing a new event ~ Breakfast of Blessings. It will take place in March and will include both our Confirmation students and their sponsors.
As part of the planning process, students were asked to share their favorite breakfast foods. Their responses reflected a variety of tastes, with requests ranging from steak and eggs to a chocolate fountain for strawberries. While we may not be able to accommodate every request, we are committed to providing a special and meaningful breakfast to celebrate this wonderful group of students and their sponsors. This is an exceptional class, and we look forward to honoring them with a meal that reflects our appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
Spotlight on our Catechists
This week, we are pleased to recognize our 3rd and 4th Grade Catechists: Ms. Sarah and Ms. Trisha. Together, they form a dynamic team, bringing creativity, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to their student’s faith formation.
Ms. Sarah enhances each lesson with thoughtfully prepared homemade treats that beautifully connect to the week’s teachings creating a meaningful and enjoyable experience for the children. Ms. Trisha compliments this with engaging activities including well-crafted scavenger hunts and interactive games, fostering both learning and excitement. Their dedication and unique talents make a significant impact helping students grow in their understanding of our faith and their relationship with our Lord and Savior.
We are truly grateful for Ms. Sarah and Ms. Trisha’s contributions to our Religious Education program. Thank you for your passion and devotion to teaching the next generation of disciples.
Kindergarten Class
Our Kindergarten class is always engaged in hands-on learning. They took a special field trip to the Sanctuary where they explored their sense of smell in a unique way. Students were invited to observe the scents of Holy Water and the sacred oils used by Fr. Sean during church services.
Through this activity, they discovered that while Holy Water has no scent, the oils carry a distinct fragrance. It was a fun and memorable way to engage their senses while learning about the sacred elements of our faith.
Second Grade RE Students
Our 2nd-grade Religious Education class had a wonderful time combining fun and learning this week. They played Hangman using a prayer they are memorizing and wrote heartfelt “Thank you” cards to our church secretary in appreciation of her generous snack donation. We are grateful for her kindness. We are blessed with the opportunity to make learning engaging for our students.
Third and Fourth Grade RE Students
Our 3rd & 4th grade Religious Ed class engaged in a hands-on learning experience by creating stained glass window designs. This creative activity spanned the entire class period and provided an enriching opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of three key topics:
Fifth and Sixth Grade RE Students
Our 5th & 6th grade students arrived eager to learn this week. As part of their ongoing study of the Saints, they explored the life and legacy of St. John Bosco whose feast day is celebrated on January 31st. Through this discussion, students gained a deeper appreciation for his contributions to
education and youth ministry.
Seventh Grade RE Students
During Religious Ed, our 7th graders gathered in the Sanctuary to pray the Rosary. As part of their lesson on Praying Communion with Mary, this experience provided a meaningful way to deepen their understanding of prayer and devotion.

Kindergarten Explores the 5 Senses with God
Our Kindergarten class is continuing their journey through the 5 senses with God. This past Sunday, they explored the sense of taste with a fun and delicious activity.
Judging by the number of treats they enjoyed, we’re guessing a few skipped lunch that day! It’s wonderful to see their excitement as they learn about God’s gifts in such creative ways.

Spotlight on our Catechists
This week, we are excited to spotlight Ms. Jackie, one of our dedicated catechists! Ms. Jackie has been faithfully guiding our second graders as they prepare for two of their most important Sacraments: First Penance and First Holy Communion.
Recently, she led her class through their First Penance with grace and care helping them grow in their faith and understanding. Ms. Jackie’s hard work and dedication to our Religious Education program are truly invaluable. Year after year she makes a lasting impact on the lives of our students and we are so grateful for her many years of service.

Celebrating First Penance
From our fun-filled First Penance Retreat to the special day of making the Sacrament, it has been an exciting journey for our students. During the retreat, the children explored the Parable of the Lost Sheep through a creative and engaging escape room that led them to the church
confessional. They also enjoyed making meaningful crafts and sharing a snack with every activity reinforcing lessons about sin and forgiveness.
A heartfelt thank you to Fr. Sean for dedicating his Saturday morning to hear confessions, making it possible for our students to receive this beautiful Sacrament. We are also deeplygrateful to the parents for their unwavering support and commitment to their children’s faith journey. Your presence and guidance are a true blessing.
A Wonderful Gift From God
On January 12th, God worked in wonderful ways by bringing our entire 7th-grade class together for the first time in a while!
What a joyful and inspiring gift the Lord has given us. Let us continue to celebrate the blessings of unity and faith in our Religious Education program.
Kindergarten Fun with the Five Senses of God
The kindergarten class explored the sense of smell as part of their monthly lesson on the 5 Senses of God: hearing, taste, smell, sight, and touch. The kids had a blast identifying different scents like coffee, hot sauce, onions, and more. Even Ms. Gabby got a reminder to “wake up and smell the coffee” from our friends. It was a fun and engaging way for the children to experience God’s world through their senses.
Religious Education is Back!
We joyfully welcomed our children back to Religious Education on January 5th with an exciting Bible-themed scavenger hunt! Our younger classes followed "Jesus' footprints” leading them to a series of interactive stations. They discovered loaves of bread and fish in the narthex, "walked on water", navigated an obstacle course while learning about healing the blind, and arrived at the Last Supper for a special snack. Before enjoying their treat, the children found a cross and gathered in prayer. It was a fun and faith-filled adventure to start the new year, bringing Bible stories to life!
Excitement in Third and Fourth Grade Religious Ed!
Our 3rd and 4th graders always bring energy and joy to their lessons! This week, their Catechists made learning extra sweet by bringing in a homemade Kings Cake. The students searched for the hidden baby in their piece of cake. One lucky student discovered it! This delicious activity tied perfectly into their lesson, making faith-filled learning both meaningful and memorable.
Christmas Pageant
On December 8, 2024, our Religious Education students enjoyed a wonderful morning starting with the Christmas Pageant followed by a cheerful gathering in the social hall.
Third and Fourth Grade Spotlight
Our 3rd and 4th graders could be found roaming the halls of the church during Religious Education on December 15th.

Confirmation Fun Before the Break
Our Confirmation students had a fantastic time on December 15th! Their teacher created a lively Jeopardy game to test their knowledge, complete with bells to ring in their answers. The room was filled with excitement and laughter, making it a memorable way to wrap up Religious Education before Christmas break. What a joyful and
engaging experience!
